Now Sharon Murphy is denying the reports by TMZ and others that investigators are looking into toxic mold at the home shared by Brittany Murphy and Simon Monjack.

“I have never been personally asked by the coroner or anyone from the Health Department to come and inspect my home for mold,” she says.

She calls the speculation “absurd.”

Authorities are investigating whether mold found in the home of Brittany Murphy and Simon Monjack contributed to their deaths, according to a report.

The Department of Public Health will handle the investigation after Brittany’s mother, Sharon Murphy, agreed to give access to the late couple’s house, says TMZ. She’d previously refused.

Simon’s mom, Linda Monjack, also supports the decision.

Reportedly, the mold issue cropped up early in the investigation of Murphy’s death but was determined “not to be a contributing factor.”

When Monjack died, suspicions returned. Pneumonia was a cause of death for both spouses, and the presence of mold could explain damage to their respiratory systems.

Murphy died in December at age 32.

Monjack was found dead in the home in May.
