Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 World Premiere — SEE RED CARPET PHOTOS!
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 world premiere was held in London’s Odeon Leicester Square on Monday. The mega-event brought out hundreds of fans hoping to see stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.
The trio were joined by cast mates Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone and franchise newcomers Julianne Moore and Natalie Dormer, as well as director Francis Lawrence. Hutcherson was able to attend after overcoming an illness that sidelined him from other promotional duties over the last few days. As Gossip Cop reported, Lawrence and Hemsworth recently appeared on the German show “Wetten Dass” without him.
Mockingjay is an adaptation of the third and final book in Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games series. The novel has been divided into two installments. The second part has already completed filming, and will hit theaters next November as the conclusion to the blockbuster franchise.
Part One, which officially opens in theaters on November 21, picks up after the events of Catching Fire, the second book and film, in which Katniss (Lawrence) and Peeta (Hutcherson) survived yet another Hunger Games, although he was captured by the Capitol and she was rescued by the rebels aiding District 13. According to the official synopsis, the new movie “finds Katniss Everdeen in District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin (Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta and a nation moved by her courage.” The late Seymour Philip Hoffman reprises his role as Plutarch.
