“Mockingjay – Part 2” Wins Thanksgiving Weekend Box Office
Hunger Games fans still had an appetite for Mockingjay – Part 2 over Thanksgiving weekend, helping it earn the top spot. Theaters were stuffed with moviegoers over the holiday, giving audiences a range of films to see, including second place finisher The Good Dinosaur, which won’t be going extinct anytime soon with a haul of $39.2 million. And Creed, the spinoff to the Rocky franchise, took third place with $30.1 million.
Coming in fourth and fifth places were former chart-topper Spectre and The Peanuts Movie, with $12.8 million and $9.7 million, respectively.
Rounding out the Top 10 were The Night Before in sixth place with $8.2 million, followed by seventh place finisher The Secret In Their Eyes, with $4.5 million. Spotlight earned eighth place with $4.5 million, while Brooklyn secured the ninth position with $3.8 million. Landing in the 10th and final spot was the Matt Damon film The Martian.
