Hunger Games Finale Mockingjay to Be Split Into Two Movies

Truth rating: 10

(Amazon)

Get ready for even more Hunger Games than originally expected.

Mockingjay, the third installment in Suzanne Collins’ bestselling book series, will be split into TWO movie adaptations, it was announced on Tuesday.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 will be released in theaters on November 21, 2014.

Then the final movie, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 will arrive on November 20, 2015.

Meanwhile, the first sequel to this year’s smash hit The Hunger Games, based on the second book Catching Fire, has just signed up Philip Seymour Hoffman and will be in theaters on November 22, 2013.

Of course, splitting the final book into two movies was famously done with both the Harry Potter and The Twilight Saga franchises.

Are you excited to see The Hunger Games saga last four movies?

Or were you hoping things would wrap up before 2015?

    Okay …
These is a really stupid idea I looooove THG but this just a other way for them to get our money.
Mockingjay was also the worst novel from the whole trilogy .

I totally get HP and Breaking dawn being two parts because there was so much direction change in both. But I don’t get this one other than trying to copy. Course it was also my least favorite book. Can’t wait for Catching Fire!

I’m not sure how exactly splitting mockingjay in two will work.. but i’m okay with it.

I love the THG series. BUT, here we go again there is not reason to split these movies into 2 extra movies. Seriously! you can tell Summit is now with Liongate, We use to call Summit Scumit now we have to call Liongate Lyinggate.

    no reason…

It’s completely unnecessary to split the third book in two, yes there are a few climatic moments, but they all take place at the end, there’s no real way to split it up and still keep a movie’s pacing. Greed

I have to agree. Mockingjay at 398 pages wasn’t the 748 page (HP) and 768 page (Twilight) tomes that the other two were. I’m not even sure of how you would split the book. Why don’t they just come out and say, “We don’t have anything else that is going to make us money because none of us are particularly creative and don’t know how to see the next big thing until it’s already the next big thing, and at present moment nothing is hitting us as the next big thing.”

Will anyone that has even read mocking jay bother seeing the movie, I mean we all know how horrible Mocking Jay was as a book, unless they can rewrite the whole poor excuse for an ending, I wont be paying money to see it.

There is SO not enough material for 2 books in the Mockinjay. Terrible idea!

Of course it’s split up, to follow the trend of making more money out of what should be one movie. I can understand Harry Potter being split up, but LOTR was over 500 pages and fit into one (long) film, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was nearly 800 pages and fit into one film. So are several other countless books (Angels & Demons). There’s no reason for a 400 page book to be made into films other than greed.

I understand it would be a really long movie if they just do one, but I don’t get how they’ll split it up. What in the world would be the climax of the first movie? All the intense stuff happens at the end of the book, and happens fairly quickly at that..

I thought this was announced like a year ago. Anyways, I see no reason besides money to split mockingjay. If they really need to split a book they should split catching fire that has two distinct parts to it.
