“Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation” Accomplishes Mission To Win Weekend Box Office + Full Top 10!
Perhaps it’s time the Mission: Impossible franchise was renamed Mission: Accomplished. Rogue Nation, the new fifth installment in the popular series, easily won the box office in its debut weekend. The latest Tom Cruise action flick brought in $56 million in ticket sales. That’s more than triple the $14.9 million another sequel film, Vacation, earned to secure the second spot.
Former chart-topper Ant-Man nabbed third place with $12.6 million, while Minions came right behind for fourth with $12.2 million. And the utterly disappointing Adam Sandler movie Pixels took the fifth spot with $10.4 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 were Trainwreck in sixth with $9.7 million, Southpaw in seventh place with $7.5 million, and Paper Towns in eighth with just $4.6 million, despite all the press the film received last week from Cara Delevingne’s much talked about interview with a local Sacramento morning TV show.
Inside Out came in ninth with $4.5 million, and Jurassic World remained in the Top 10 with $3.8 million.
