High Schooler Suspended For Asking Miss America To Prom
A high schooler has been suspended for asking Miss America Nina Davuluri to go to prom with him.
When 18-year-old Patrick Farves heard the reigning pageant winner was coming to Central York High School in Pennsylvania, he joked with classmates that he was going to ask Davuluri to attend prom — and word spread to the point that he felt compelled to do it.
Reportedly, administrators warned Farves not to follow through with the plan. But during the Q&A session following an assembly with Davuluri, the senior went up to the microphone and asked her to prom — leading Miss America to laugh and the audience to applaud.
He reportedly approached the stage and presented Miss America with a plastic flower, asking if they could take a “selfie.” Farves was subsequently called to the principal’s office and given a three-day in-school suspension. He can still go to prom, although he needs to find a date. Davuluri, meanwhile, was reportedly charmed by the invitation and took no offense.
