Mirjana Puhar Dead: America’s Next Top Model Contestant Killed In Triple Murder
Mirjana Puhar, a contestant on “America’s Next Top Model,” was killed in a triple homicide on Tuesday. The murders took place at the home of Puhar’s boyfriend, Jonathan Alvarado, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Puhar was 19 years old.
Gunshots were heard at the residence, leading a friend of the couple to race to the home, where the friend reportedly saw Puhar and Alvarado’s bodies and called police. When cops came to the scene, a third victim, identified as Jusmar Gonzaga-Garcia, was found, according to TMZ. The outlet says the friend saw money scattered around the residence.
Law enforcement officials have arrested Emmanuel Jesus Rangel and charged him with three counts of first-degree murder. They believe the triple homicide may have been drug-related, and that Puhar and the other victims knew Rangel.
Puhar competed on the 21st cycle of “America’s Next Top Model” in 2014. She was eliminated from the competition in the 10th episode. She was born in Serbia, fleeing the country with her family after the Kosovo War. They eventually settled in North Carolina. She did local modeling before getting her big “ANTM” break.
In an interview with the Charlotte Observer last year, Puhar said of her crazy high school days, “I was a wild child… I went out, had fun, partied, whatever – I didn’t really have the best influences around me.”
