Zayn Malik “Mind Of Mine” Reaction: Fans Rate Singer’s Debut Solo Album
Zayn Malik’s debut solo album Mind Of Mine finally came out on Friday, and now fans are weighing in on the highly-anticipated music.
As Gossip Cop has noted, Mine Of Mine was released exactly a year after Malik quit One Direction. He signed with RCA Records last July, and announced the title of his first album in early January. The first single, “Pillowtalk,” followed, and Malik went on to drop “It’s You,” “Like I Would,” and “BeFour” all before the record’s premiere.
But now fans can listen to the whole thing, and with the deluxe edition, that’s 18 songs. The album is already number one in iTunes in dozens of countries, and “Mind Of Mine” has been a trending topic both worldwide and in the United States on and off since midnight. So, what do people think?
@london_girl93 tweeted, “@zaynmalik #MindOfMine is a great album. Tells much about you and i’m happy that you have taken the right DIRECTION. Keep it up. PROUD OF YOU.” @NoemieKilam wrote to the singer, “YOU are the best for having make an album like #MindOfMine, I think I’m going to marry this album haha!” And @zayntheist declared, “The best thing Zayn ever did was go solo #MindOfMine is so good.”
@Zayn_MyHero posted, “remember the day Zayn promised this album would be amazing? he did it. Our boy is number1 in more than 70countries!” @ZoloZaynZquaad exclaimed, “SEEING ZAYN SO HAPPY IS ALL I EVER WANTED! HE FOUND HIS DIRECTION AND IS LIVING HIS DREAM!!!” Using the “#1YearWithoutZayn” hashtag that’s marking Malik’s departure from one Direction, @1DsVocal noted, “march 25th ’15: he made millions of us cry march 25th ’16: he made millions of us proud. proud of him, & his decision.”
@Ashtonio5sauce similarly said, “1 year ago I cried my eyes out bc of zayn, and now I feel so happy for him and his amazing album.” @imperialzjm also wrote, “1 year ago today my heart was broken because he left. Today, right now I’m listening to HIS album. I’m so proud of Zayn rn.” But, of course, not everyone is so happy with the result.
“So Mind of Mine wasn’t awful but it also was pretty bland,” @NakedRainn wrote on Twitter. @AshleiYonce stated, “#MindOfMine came out but I think it’s dull and poorly constructed. #disappointed.” And @greenIight even said, “I’m listening to Mind Of Mine and it’s awful, can someone please tell me why it’s one repetitive beat with lyrics over it?”
For his part, Malik seems pleased with reaction. Upon seeing Mind Of Mine was rocketing up the charts across the globe, he tweeted to fans, “Cant get my head round it!!! You lot are the [OK emoji].” But will he have the number one album on the Billboard 200? Stay tuned.
