Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus File for Divorce

Miley Cyrus‘ parents, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, have filed for divorce in Tennessee, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

“As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers,” they said in a statement to Gossip Cop.

The couple was married for 17 years and have five kids.

Billy Ray is seeking “shared” custody of their three minor children, as well as “equitable distribution of the marital estate.”

Official documents also show a request for a court-approved parenting plan to be signed by both parties.

    No, but it is still a sad situation. I know people divorce. I know that Cyrus will get over it eventually. But it’s really at a time or age where she needs both parents. I just hope that it doesn’t affect her. I just hope that it’s done in a civil manner. Seemed as if she loved both parents. It’s usually sad no matter how you look at it. The parties divorcing as well as the children feel the effect no matter what.

    Divorce is hard anyway you look at it. I don’t wish it on anyone. My parents divorced when I was young so I grew up without my Dad in my life. That was even harder.
