Miley Cyrus Hosting MTV Video Music Awards 2015 — See VMAs Host Announcement Photos!
Miley Cyrus is hosting the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, it was announced on Monday. Check out the photo at right, and more below!
Cyrus broke the news herself on Twitter. The pop star shared a photo of herself in an alien costume, with a sign reading, “MTV won’t let me perform.” In a second snapshot, the alien is revealed to be Cyrus, with a new sign that says, “So I’m hosting this year’s VMAs.”
“F*ck yeah VMAs!!!!! #VMAs on @MTV Aug 30 at 9pm,” Cyrus tweeted. The official MTV Twitter account also posted the same pictures, writing, “.@MileyCyrus has a message for you all.” Cyrus’ tweet was her first Twitter post in nearly a month.
The hosting announcement comes just hours before the VMAs nominations will be revealed. The 2015 nominees will be unveiled exclusively on Apple’s Beats1 Wednesday morning as part of a new partnership. Cyrus herself isn’t expected to garner any nods, as she hasn’t released a new music video within the last year.
The singer, however, has a long, infamous history with the awards show. Most notably, in 2013, she caused a huge controversy with her overtly-sexual performance of “We Can’t Stop” and “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke. At last year’s ceremony, Cyrus had homeless man Jesse Helt accept her “Video of the Year” award.
As Gossip Cop reported, Cyrus has been hinting recently to new projects. Earlier this month she teased “good sh*t” was coming soon, and Friday she posted pictures that appeared to be for a photo shoot. All part of the VMAs, or is there also something else to come? Stay tuned, and tell us what you think of Cyrus’ new gig below.
