In Touch tries to create a new controversy for Miley Cyrus by claiming the 17-year-old star has rather expensive tastes when it comes to her hair.

According to the tab’s “insider,” the teen queen “spent more than $24,000 on her recent extensions, importing the hair from Italy and flying out her New York stylist, Kristina Barricelli from Gemini 14 salon, to L.A. to do the ‘do.’”

“Miley bought the best hair possible, and then had it dyed to match hers exactly,” the “insider” explains. “Her hair is an investment.”

So is credibility, so it’s unfortunate In Touch‘s stock plummeted long ago. If this tale of intercontinental mane management sounds far fetched… that’s because it is.

The $24,000 extensions story is “not true,” a rep for Cyrus tells Gossip Cop.

Just another example of In Touch going to great lengths and coming up short.
