Miley Cyrus VMAs To Have Delay
Miley Cyrus and MTV Video Music Awards will have a delay on Sunday, giving the network protection in case any of the host’s antics need censoring.
As Gossip Cop has reported, Cyrus will be at the helm of the 2015 VMAs ceremony at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The pop star’s promos for the show have featured her partially naked and cursing, leading many to wonder what she has in store for the live broadcast. But MTV is giving itself a few seconds of insurance.
“We have [planned] a lot of wide camera shots and a lot of audience reaction shows. And we have a delay so we’re prepared for her,” executive producer Van Toffler, who is the outgoing president of Viacom, tells The Hollywood Reporter. He further says of Cyrus, “She feels like the perfect host. She’s that that great marriage of music credibility, candor, she uses social media so well to express herself and she’s provocative and chaotic and unpredictable, everything we want for this show.”
Cyrus hinted to a wild event in an interview with the New York Times, explaining how it was actually Toffler’s idea to have her host the gig. “Van Toffler, who runs MTV, it was his last year. He’s leaving, and so he can’t get fired. He was like, ‘I want to do something crazy — I want you to host the VMAs, because I want that to be my last shebang,'” she recalled, adding, “It’s like ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.'”
