Miley Cyrus Uses Casey Anthony Verdict for Gay Marriage Statement

Truth rating: 10

(GettyImages.com)

Miley Cyrus just tweeted about the Casey Anthony verdict in an effort to make a larger political statement.

The singer/actress wrote, “You know the world is skewed when people get away with murdering children but we can’t get gay marriage legalized in the state of California.”

Although the two subjects technically have little in common, Cyrus is trying to make a broader comment about what shouldn’t and should be allowed under the law.

Cryus joins a list of other celebs, including Kim and Khloe KardashianTori Spelling, and Mandy Moore, who were upset that Anthony was found not guilty of murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

What did you think about the Anthony decision?

she’s right, this world is so ass backwards

  • Vols1986

People like you are the reason the world is going to?? what the heck gay marriage got to do with Anthony case??… Apple and oranges people – just get your facts straight and get a job

  • LC

Get your facts straight? Well how about this, people who love each other can’t get married because they are of the same sex does that seem right to you? Not so much. Yet a woman can kill her own child & get away with it, now does that see right? No, not so much on that either.

I highly doubt that what Miley was trying to say was that they had much to do with each other OTHER then the fact that our world is so F’d up.

Gay marriage is still illegal in most states yet in the state of FL you can get away with killing your own kid.

While the Bible does address homosexuality, it does not explicitly mention gay marriage/same-sex marriage. It is clear, however, that the Bible condemns homosexuality as an immoral and unnatural sin. Leviticus 18:22 identifies homosexual sex as an abomination, a detestable sin. Romans 1:26-27 declares homosexual desires and actions to be shameful, unnatural, lustful, and indecent. First Corinthians 6:9 states that homosexuals are unrighteous and will not inherit the kingdom of God. Since both homosexual desires and actions are condemned in the Bible, it is clear that homosexuals “marrying” is not God’s will, and would be, in fact, sinful.

Whenever the Bible mentions marriage, it is between a male and a female. The first mention of marriage, Genesis 2:24, describes it as a man leaving his parents and being united to his wife. In passages that contain instructions regarding marriage, such as 1 Corinthians 7:2-16 and Ephesians 5:23-33, the Bible clearly identifies marriage as being between a man and a woman. Biblically speaking, marriage is the lifetime union of a man and a woman, primarily for the purpose of building a family and providing a stable environment for that family.

The Bible alone, however, does not have to be used to demonstrate this understanding of marriage. The biblical viewpoint of marriage has been the universal understanding of marriage in every human civilization in world history. History argues against gay marriage. Modern secular psychology recognizes that men and women are psychologically and emotionally designed to complement one another. In regard to the family, psychologists contend that a union between a man and woman in which both spouses serve as good gender role models is the best environment in which to raise well-adjusted children. Psychology argues against gay marriage. In nature/physicality, clearly, men and women were designed to “fit” together sexually. With the “natural” purpose of sexual intercourse being procreation, clearly only a sexual relationship between a man and a woman can fulfill this purpose. Nature argues against gay marriage.

So, if the Bible, history, psychology, and nature all argue for marriage being between a man and a woman—why is there such a controversy today? Why are those who are opposed to gay marriage/same-sex marriage labeled as hateful, intolerant bigots, no matter how respectfully the opposition is presented? Why is the gay rights movement so aggressively pushing for gay marriage/same-sex marriage when most people, religious and non-religious, are supportive of—or at least far less opposed to—gay couples having all the same legal rights as married couples with some form of civil union?

The answer, according to the Bible, is that everyone inherently knows that homosexuality is immoral and unnatural, and the only way to suppress this inherent knowledge is by normalizing homosexuality and attacking any and all opposition to it. The best way to normalize homosexuality is by placing gay marriage/same-sex marriage on an equal plane with traditional opposite-gender marriage. Romans 1:18-32 illustrates this. The truth is known because God has made it plain. The truth is rejected and replaced with a lie. The lie is then promoted and the truth suppressed and attacked. The vehemence and anger expressed by many in the gay rights movement to any who oppose them is, in fact, an indication that they know their position is indefensible. Trying to overcome a weak position by raising your voice is the oldest trick in the debating book. There is perhaps no more accurate description of the modern gay rights agenda than Romans 1:31, “they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.”

To give sanction to gay marriage/same-sex marriage would be to give approval to the homosexual lifestyle, which the Bible clearly and consistently condemns as sinful. Christians should stand firmly against the idea of gay marriage/same-sex marriage. Further, there are strong and logical arguments against gay marriage/same-sex marriage from contexts completely separated from the Bible. One does not have to be an evangelical Christian to recognize that marriage is between a man and a woman.

According to the Bible, marriage is ordained by God to be between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:21-24; Matthew 19:4-6). Gay marriage/same-sex marriage is a perversion of the institution of marriage and an offense to the God who created marriage. As Christians, we are not to condone or ignore sin. Rather, we are to share the love of God and the forgiveness of sins that is available to all, including homosexuals, through Jesus Christ. We are to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) and contend for truth with “gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15). As Christians, when we make a stand for truth and the result is personal attacks, insults, and persecution, we should remember the words of Jesus: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you” (John 15:18-19).

If you wanna go pull out the Bible card, as a Catholic christian who went to Catholic schools ALL her life, I take a stand with gays for the legalization of marriage. BESIDES, we as a society do soooo many things that the Bible says is wrong anyway.

    1. Round haircuts, (very much like bobs) It is considered wrong in the Bible. Leviticus 19:27
    2. Football. Leviticus 11:8
    3. Fortune Telling Leviticus 19:31
    4. Pulling Out as in SEX, which is also a sin if done before MARRIAGE! 38:9-10
    5. Tattoos! Leviticus 19:28

And the list goes on…and on and on.

It kills me that people are so quick to say “hey what your doing is morally wrong!” when they bypass everything else in the Bible.

  • Dukebrady13

Murderers walk free and perverts get married. Sounds about right.

  • Jessica23claire

For once I actually agree what she says! My respect for her just skyrocketed. Four for you, Miley Cyrus, you go Miley Cyrus!

Sorry to hear that you have rejected Christ and His gospel. The Church will cheerfully welcome back should you ever choose to repent.

The Bible is the Word of our Creator, and Genesis is literal history. Its science and history can be trusted. Therefore, we have an absolute authority that determines marriage.
God made the first man and woman, the first marriage. Thus, marriage can only be a man and a woman because we are accountable to the One who made marriage in the first place.
And don’t forget, according to Scripture, one of the primary reasons for marriage is to produce godly offspring. Adam and Eve were told to be fruitful and multiply, but there’s no way a gay marriage can fulfill this command!
As a Christian, I do not believe in same sex relationships/marriages, but I usually don’t start quoting the Bible to make my point.
No matter what our society may legislate, the law of God is clear: that a marriage is not a godly marriage if it is a same sex union.
We live in the world, but we are not suppose to be of it.

  • Brihackums

I haven’t rejected Christ or his Gospel. Not one bit.

  • Alexab97

No one, except for the Anthony family, knows if Casey Anthony killed her daughter. Don’t complain about the Floridian legal system, complain about the shaky case the prosecution made, which was unable to prove anything.
You know our world is fucked up when the media condemns people instead of the courts, and when practices that have not been accepted since the beginning of time are suddenly being defended, and those who oppose theses practices are suddenly the bad guys in society.
Yes, I am a christian, but I will not shove the Bible in your face. I do not have a problem with homosexuals, knowing many myself, but I do believe that the world is truly fucked up when you cannot say that it is unnatural for people of the same sex to marry without being attacked for your views.

Genesis is literal history?! Really?! According to Genesis the Earth has been here 4015 years. The Earth has actually been here more like 4 billion years. Much of the Bible is fiction, allegory if you will. It’s a great guide, sometimes. But the word “homosexual” was ADDED to the Bible in the mid-1890s. Before that was it not a sin? Well no…as it’s not today. I am so tired of hearing Bible thumpers who don’t even know the truth about the Bible, or about history!

  • Odenaa

So then incest is okay? Because God created Adam and Eve, in the literal history of the bible, and they had children, who had children. They must have mated with each other, because God made Adam and Eve, not Adam, Eve, and a bunch of other people.

Oh, and don’t have anal sex or oral sex. Or sex while menstruating. Or buy anything you see on tv or that your neighbor has. Or watch porn that has lesbians. Or porn in general (it is wanting). You know, don’t do anything.

you forgot to add arrogant / hateful people such as yourself

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2CA4YJRAEE3YR7LU3WI7MLBK6A RFarahat

why is it that most of the people who speak on God behalf (or so they think) are the most hateful walkers on this plant.. shame on them…. No God did not put you in charge.. not in this life or the after life…

This is one of the best Biblically founded arguments against homosexuality that I have seen! Thank you very much.

I wish this pop tart would just go away. This is another way to get her nonsignificant self back into the tabloids.

As far as homosexuality being “unnatural”…Natural means existing in nature. There are countless species that display not only homosexual activity, but in some cases pair bonding as well. Furthermore I would refute that the “natural” use of sexuality is to have children. If the only use were to have children how would people who are infertile ever be able to have sex? Why would the interest in having sex not be countered by the use of a condom. People that don’t want kids don’t stop having sex. The natural use of sex is to have sex.
You speak as if you have attacked for “speaking the truth.” The truth is that every excuse you have given to discriminate has been refuted, except perhaps the Biblical one, yet you still cling to the same reasons. As far as the Biblical one goes..If you aren’t following ALL of what the Bible preaches then expecting everyone else to is simply hypocritical.
I have to say I am grateful for the smattering of separation of church and state we still have left. The Constitution was supposed to make ALL people equal, not just the Christian ones.

  • Binal

Its funny how when a man talks to himself he is thought of as crazy. When a man prays, he talks to himself, but is a good man. People aren’t crazy how they think there is a man up in the sky, but you get crazy looks for having a wild imagination.
I’m not saying its wrong to believe in something, if you do great. But why do you want to control someone else’s live? Why should you have a right to say how they live their lives. When you were in kindergarten, your teacher would tell you to just worry about yourself. Then why say gay marriage is wrong? Doesn’t matter if your against it because its not your life!I don’t tell you how to live your life then why are you tell them? In other countries they eat animals when we keep them as pets. That’s not “wrong” then why is the fact that when two people who love each other can’t be married is the gender is the same?
Religion is a way of life YOU chose for YOURSELF, not for others.

  • Ysterah

I feel the same about your comment. You base the statement “The earth has been here more than 4 billion years”, where is this prove. According to the history of the evolution theory, the Earth is getting older and older. It used to be a few million years old, and gradually through the years of “science” the world suddenly jumped to 4 billion years old. The one thing lacking though is fact and common sence. Do some research on the gravitational pull of the earth, The speed at which Victoria falls recedes, or even the process involved from changing from one species to the another. Evolution is a fantasy held on to people who refuse to accept that God created the earth.

To say the Bible is fiction is really something only a fool would say. Many people have tried to disprove the Bible but have not been able to do it. Please indicate which part “YOU” think is fiction. Next thing you’ll be telling me Jesus didnt exist. Although he was written about from +- 30 AD till 230 AD, when the Bible was completed. A biography of Alexander the Great was only written about 300 years after his death but we take everything written as fact. The same goes for Buddha when his writtings where done over 500 years after his death. The Old Testament is factual and follows history accurately. So please, before you start claiming fasle information about the Bible, try reading it and other sources.

But also, if you are looking for reasons to disprove the Bible, you will attempt to clutch at straws that you believe will disprove it. Nothing i say will make you change you mind. My hope is that you try and take an unbiased approach. The Bible will offend people, because it is the word of God, the funny thing is though, the main story about the Bible is one of Love. People are just Blind to it.

  • Emily

So now that everyone thinks that gay marriages are okay……. What does everyone think about abortions? And society telling us how many kids we should have? You probably think those are okay to right?

  • Emily

Ok maybe I shouldn’t have quoted the bible. I should’ve typed down what I felt, so here it goes…………… gays and lesbians are……………….. DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!…………….. the end.

  • Mz L Clark

As a bisexual female I am just gonna put it out there that 1 everyone is allowed their own opinion. I understand that you were brought up to be avaunt same sex relationships but, how can you compare that to killing an unborn child?!?

  • Anon

maybe you deserve to be attacked for denying someone else their rights.

  • Guest

Perfectly worded, Emily. And I’m so tired of being called “hatefull” whenever I say that I honestly don’t believe in gay marriage. I believe gays and lesbians should have a way to unite like traditional marriage, but it should not be called marriage because it isn’t. God intended for marriage to be between a man and a woman so life can go on. But love is love, and if homosexuals want to show their love, I think they should be able to. Just don’t call it marriage, because it’s not.

  • Emily

Yeah. Gay marriage shouldn’t be allowed because it goes against eveything God created. Marriage is between a man AND woman. Not man and man, woman and woman- if God was okay with same-sex marriages then God would’ve created Adam and Steve not Adam and Eve.

  • Emily

Actually, I was brought up to avaunt gay marriages, not same-sex relationships.

  • Emily

The reason why I posted this is because everyone seems to forget what marriage is all about. But don’t you worry, gays/lesbians will be allowed to get married in Catholic churches, isn’t that great news??? *sarcasm*

  • Emily

Gay/lesbians are just as sinful as a straight person.

  • Johnnydamronmusic

What in the world is a “Catholic Christian?” The word Christian isn’t a generic term. The word came from the Word of God (Bible) ACTS 11:26. Yes it is true that mankind do many things that nauseate God, but this doesn’t mean that God has to condone them. Or, leave them go unpunished. All it takes is one hole to sink a ship. Remember the Titanic?
