Miley Cyrus‘ brother Braison spent Saturday in the hospital after a blood-filled incident.

The singer’s father, Billy Ray, posted a graphic photo of the aftermath on Twitter Sunday afternoon, showing Braison covered in blood and sitting in a hospital bed.

Braison himself tweeted from the hospital, “Today was actually the most horrific day of my life.”

Thankfully, Miley’s younger bro now seems to be on the mend, with Billy Ray tweeting thanks to “God and all the fine doctors nurses and staff at Providence Saint Joseph hospital.”

“Been a wild 24 hours but bringing my son home,” he wrote, later adding, “Everything is OK now and he is home…but @braisonwukong was bleeding badly!”

Braison later explained on Twitter what happened: “I got my tonsils out last week. Not sure what happened exactly but long story short my artery opened and I was bleed[ing] a lot.”

“All good now,” he added.

    It wasn’t a nose bleed. He had his tonsils out last week and an artery burst. STFU and don’t judge. He nearly bled to death.

    It’s always more dangerous for adolescents and adults to have their tonsils removed..

    This wasn’t just a nosebleed, Charlie_kane. His artery opened! When that happens, bleeding to death is a gruesome – and quite real possibility … Even with modern medicals.

    I’m guessing that he had some pretty serious complications from his tonsillectomy, but there’s really not enough information in the short & nondescript article above.

    It’s a scary thing … I’m just very glad that the Docs found the problem pretty quickly!

    My thoughts are with him and his family.

    I was 12 when i got my tonsils out, i had major complications from this, i had alot of bleeding and i got pneumonia on top of a extremely sore throat, i didnt cough up blood but it hurt bad to cough or sneeze it took about 3 weeks for me to start to feel somewhat ok, God Bless you and your family….
