Miley Cyrus Banned From Performing in Dominican Republic for Immorality
Miley Cyrus’ upcoming concert in the Dominican Republic has been canceled after the government banned her from performing.
In a statement released Thursday, a government commission said Cyrus would not be allowed to hold her show because she “undertakes acts that go against morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law.”
Cyrus was slated play at the Estadio Quisqueya in Santo Domingo on September 13. Gossip Cop has reached out to a Cyrus rep for comment, but has yet to hear back.
While the news itself may be surprising, the reasons behind it are undoubtedly not. Since Cyrus’ Bangerz tour began in February, she has made headlines again and again for her raunchy on stage antics. That has included everything from simulating oral sex on “Bill Clinton” to playing with inflatable penises.
It’s not clear why Cyrus simply couldn’t done tone her show for the appearance. Of course, she may not have been given that option. Or she may not have accepted it even if she had.
It’s also unclear why, when the tour has been going on for nearly eight months, the government just decided now, mere weeks before the show, to can it. We bet there’s a lot of disappointed Smilers out there.
