Hilary Duff’s Husband Mike Comrie Retires From Hockey

Mike Comrie, Hilary Duff’s husband, has retired from hockey after his latest hip surgery.

It was his third operation in five years.

“My career has afforded me a series of phenomenal opportunities to play and become friends with some of the greatest people I have ever known and some of the greatest players who have ever played this game,” said Comrie, who played in nearly 600 NHL games with several teams.

Shortly after the announcement, Duff tweeted, “As many of u know mike has announced his retirement. Its a bittersweet day! He had a wonderful career! but 3 hip surgeries in 5 years is alot!”

The couple wed in August 2010.

They’re expecting their first child in the coming weeks.

    Wise decision on his part especially with them expecting their first child. The last thing that he and Hillary would need to have happen, is for him to play, injure his hip again and be bed-ridden for an extended period or permanently crippled because of the injury.
