Mickey Rooney Dies at 93
Mickey Rooney has died. He was 93. The Hollywood legend’s death was reported by TMZ. Rooney’s career spanned decades, beginning with his run as one of the biggest child stars in history in the late 1920s, going on to break out as the lead in the Andy Hardy series of films.
He was frequently teamed with Judy Garland (see below), was given an Academy Award while still a teenager, and was commonly considered the biggest box-office draw in movies in the years before World War II.
Rooney starred in National Velvet with Elizabeth Taylor, Breakfast at Tiffany’s with Audrey Hepburn, and more recently appeared in hit films like Night at the Museum and The Muppets.
