Michelle Rodriguez: Being A Woman Is Like “Being Born A Slave” (VIDEO)
Michelle Rodriguez is comparing the plight of women in the working world to that of slaves. Check out the video below.
Rodriguez was at LAX on Friday when she was asked about the ongoing debate in Hollywood about the wage gap between men and women. “That’s the world we live in. It’s a patriarchal society,” the actress said.
Asked if she’s personally experienced the disparity, Rodriguez answered affirmatively. “Yes, I get paid a lot less than my colleagues,” she said. But, she added, “I don’t complain. I’m not gonna whine about it.”
Rodriguez went on, “It’s like being born a slave. It’s like, ‘aw, damn, darn my luck.’ You know? I wish I was born somewhere else or maybe some other way, but it is what it is.” The Fast & Furious star further said she doesn’t try to fight the situation because she doesn’t care “about money or power.”
This is hardly the first time Rodriguez has made some eyebrow-raising comments. Earlier this year, she said she was jealous that Paul Walker died before her, and also had to defend a new movie about gender reassignment. And last year, Rodriguez apologized for saying minorities shouldn’t play white superheroes. Watch the new slavery and gender remarks go down below.
