Okay besides Charlize Theron in Monster what other white woman won an Oscar for “acting” a trashy role? Melissa Leo was pretty trashy in the Fighter and she won an Oscar, so was Christian Bale in the same movie. Charlize Theron won for Monster. Jennifer Hudson, Forest Whittaker and Morgan Freeman all gave non-trashy performances to win their Oscars. I have no idea what she’s talking about.

Did you see Winter’s Bone? The characters in that film were a hell of lot more “trashy” than a lot of the black characters that have been nominated. It’s literally about a girl in the Ozarks trying to find out if her meth-cooking father has been killed by other drug dealers.
What about white characters in The Fighter? Rachel Getting Married? If you need me to go further back, how about Mira Sorvino in Mighty Aphrodite? or Kathy Bates in Misery?

There are way more white women who have gotten to the Oscars for being “trashy” than black women.

I wasn’t claiming it was a blanket policy, the academy is made up of more than a single person. I just see where she was coming from, I think the issue still exists to a lesser extent, and I think out of context the comment is misunderstood.
