Michelle Obama appeared on “The Voice” on Monday to promote Joining Forces. Watch below.

The First Lady was joined on the NBC competition by Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden. Together they founded Joining Forces in 2011 to help veterans and their families. Through the initiative, eligible participants are aided with employment, education, and wellness. The motto: “Taking action to serve America’s military families.”

The “Voice” appearance was scheduled to mark the fifth anniversary of the campaign and occurred during Military Appreciation Month. Obama and Biden took to the stage to a standing ovation, before FLOTUS said, “We are so excited to be kicking off this anniversary with all of you at ‘The Voice.'”

“Over the past five years, through Joining Forces, Jill and I have had the privilege of traveling around the country to meet our troops, the veterans, and military families. We are just in awe of them,” she went on. Biden noted, “This is personal… We wanted to show them how much we appreciate their service through real action.”

Obama then introduced the season’s Top 10 to sing Dierks Bentley’s “Home.” She exclaimed afterward, “What talents!” Fittingly, the “Voice” audience was filled with retired and active service members and their families. Check out a funny behind-the-scenes clip and the “Home” performance below!
