Michelle Obama Song ‘This Is For My Girls’ Features Kelly Clarkson, Zendaya And More Stars Promoting Female Education (VIDEO)
Michelle Obama has recruited an all-star lineup of singers, including Kelly Clarkson and Zendaya, to campaign for female education with a new song called “This Is For My Girls.” Watch a behind-the-scenes video below of the making of the song!
The First Lady doesn’t actually sing on the power anthem. Instead, she leaves that to Clarkson, Zendaya, Missy Elliott, Lea Michele, Kelly Rowland, Janelle Monae, Jadagrace, and Chloe & Halle. Proceeds from the song will go towards the Let Girls Learn initiative, which was launched by the President and First Lady to help educate the more than 62 million girls around the world who are not in school.
Written by famed songwriter Diane Warren, “This Is for My Girls” features such lyrics as “This is for my girls , all around the world. There’s beauty in your soul , that’s what makes you beautiful.” Surprisingly, considering the First Lady of the United States is behind the track, the song also includes the line, “Don’t take no s**t from nobody.”
Later on Wednesday, Obama will give a keynote speech at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, where she’ll be joined by Queen Latifah, Sophia Bush, Elliott, and Warren. Additionally, Chloe & Halle will perform the song live during the First Lady’s panel. Watch a behind-the-scenes video below of the making of “This Is for My Girls.”
