CLAIM: Michelle Obama is Pregnant

“Michelle Obama is pregnant,” proclaims CelebDirtyLaundry, picking up on a rumor floated on Twitter and by the fake news site, WeeklyWorldNews.

According to CelebDirtyLaundry, “The White House announced today that first lady Michelle Obama, 46, is pregnant with her third child. President Barack Obama, 49, her husband is ecstatic!”

Really?

The blog even quotes White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs saying, “Michelle Obama is pregnant… She’s about two months into her pregnancy and the President and First Lady expect to have the baby sometime in late July, 2011.”

Gibbs NEVER said any of those things.

And the rumor is completely FALSE.

It seems the rumor probably first took root in a Toronto Sun piece in which a psychic predicted the First Lady would get pregnant.

Bottom line: The only thing fertile here is the imagination of the prankster who create today’s hoax, which several unreliable blogs fell for.
