Michael Phelps Wedding Photos From Second Ceremony, NOT “Secret” June Nuptials, Despite Report
Michael Phelps posted photos from his second wedding ceremony on Saturday, which confused the often unreliable HollywoodLife. The repeatedly discredited site, which rarely fact-checks stories, gushed in yet another blundering headline, “Michael Phelps Finally Shares Stunning Pics From Secret Wedding Ceremony.” But the pictures were not from his secret June ceremony. They were taken in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Saturday when the Olympic gold medalist tied the knot again with Nicole Johnson before family and friends.
The hilariously mistaken webloid exclaims that it has “the first pics of his secret wedding” and all the “details.” While it notes Phelps and his bride are “walking hand in hand near the ocean” (right), the site actually has no idea that the couple exchanged vows in Cabo, and that it was their second ceremony. Instead, the hopelessly clueless outlet simply regurgitates how Phelps revealed in a Facebook Live video last week, “I’ve been married for awhile… I had to keep it a secret from y’all. But Nicole and I are officially married.”
As Gossip Cop previously reported, the most decorated Olympian ever first wed in mid-June before the Rio games. But the pictures he and his new bride shared on Sunday were taken on Saturday at his more formal wedding at the El Dorado Golf and Beach Club in Cabo. The already married couple said “I do” again before approximately 50 friends and family members, including the couple’s son Boomer. The bride wore a white lace gown by Julie Vino, while Phelps wore a gray suit and tie.
Following their second nuptials in Cabo, which HollywoodLife mistook as their first “secret wedding,” Johnson posted a photo on Instagram of herself with Phelps, along with the caption, “Truly the happiest day of my life.” Phelps also shared a picture of the married couple walking back up the aisle with the message, “My best friend… I love you!” See the photos below from Mr. and Mrs. Phelps’ second wedding in Mexico.
