Michael Phelps ARRESTED For DUI
Michael Phelps has been arrested for DUI.
The record-setting Olympic swimmer was busted for driving under the influence in Maryland early Tuesday morning.
Police pulled Phelps’ Range Rover over at approximately 1:40 a.m. for going 84 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone.
He failed a field sobriety test, with a blood-alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit.
Phelps was charged with DUI, excessive speeding and crossing double lane lines.
He was taken into custody, booked, and then released.
Phelps was previously arrested for DUI in 2004 when he was 19 years old.
At the time, he struck a plea deal that led to 18 months of probation.
Law enforcement officials have not yet disclosed details about Phelps’ new arrest.
Gossip Cop will have updates.
Phelps is the most decorated Olympian in history, winning 22 medals (including 18 golds) at the 2004 Athens Games, 2008 Beijing Games, and 2012 London Games.
He’d recently returned to swimming after a brief retirement.
