Michael L. Brea of “Ugly Betty” Charged in Mom’s Sword Murder

Michael L. Brea, the “Ugly Betty” actor police say killed his mother with a sword on Tuesday, has been charged with 2nd degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Brea will be arraigned today.
The actor’s mother, Yannick Brea, was found murdered in a grisly scene in her apartment yesterday, and law enforcement authorities immediately took her son into custody. He was transported to a psychiatric hospital for evaluation.
While initial reports claimed Brea had slain his mother with a samurai sword, it’s now believed that he used another type of blade.
