Michael Johns Dead: American Idol Finalist Dies At 35
Michael Johns has died. He was 35.
The singer was best known as a finalist on “American Idol.” There are reports that a blood clot in his ankle led to Johns’ death. No cause of death has officially been confirmed.
Johns finished in eighth place in Season 7 of “American Idol” in 2008. He later released two studio albums. He was a native of Australia who had moved to the United States to pursue a music career.
Prior to “American Idol,” he had a record deal as a solo artist, and released his own album, and then more records as part of a band. As one of the Top 10 contestants on “American Idol,” he got to tour the United States following the seventh season’s conclusion.
Johns is survived by his wife, Stacey Vuduris. They wed in 2007, and did not have any children.
Following the news of Johns’ passing, members of the “American Idol” family, past and present, took to social media to express their condolences. Simon Cowell, who was still a judge during Johns’ season, wrote on Twitter, “I just heard the very sad news that Michael Johns has passed away. A truly great guy. Rest in peace Michael.” Host Ryan Seacrest tweeted, “Sad news for the idol family…one of our own @Michael_Johns passed away. A consistently kind guy with talent for days. We’ll miss you.”
