Michael J. Fox: “I’m Excited to Get to Work” on New NBC Show

Michael J. Fox is returning to NBC.

Last week, Gossip Cop noted that the “Family Ties” star was attached to star in a new family comedy series from “Arrested Development” writer Sam Laybourne and Easy A director Will Gluck. And now we can report that NBC has picked up 22 episodes of the single-camera show in which Fox plays a dad — based on his own life — who deals with career and other challenges, including Parkinson’s Disease.

The untitled show is slated to premiere in the fall of 2013.

NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement: “To bring Michael J. Fox back to NBC is a supreme honor and we are thrilled that one of the great comedic television stars is coming home again.”

“From the moment we met with Michael to hear his unique point of view about this new show, we were completely captivated and on board. He is utterly relatable, optimistic and in a class by himself, and I have no doubt that the character he will create — and the vivid family characters surrounding him — will be both instantly recognizable and hilarious. Being in business with him is a pleasure of the highest order,” he added.

And Fox said in a statement: “I’m extremely pleased to be back at NBC with a great creative team and a great show. Bob Greenblatt and all the folks at the network have given me a warm welcome home, and I’m excited to get to work.”

His last starring TV role was on “Spin City” in 2001.

These comments seriously made me lose my faith in the world.
If only I could flag you idiots for these comments.
I wish Michael well, and I think he will do great on this show

    Go away.

What the hell is wrong with the world! Parkinsons is NOT funny- it is a terminal illness and it destroys peoples livelyhoods and wreeks havoc on their families before taking their lives! I wish him and his family the best with this new show and with his illness!

nice to hear. he’s always been one of my favourite actors

This is indeed good news. I really like the guy, and he’s been highly missed in the spotlight.

    nah

This this current cruel unforgiving world, one needs to develop a sense of humor and learn to laugh at themselves. If this guys cares what a few people say on a tabloid website, then he is shallow and pathetic.

What goes around, comes around. Always. Try to remember that the next time you decide to make fun of people with disabilities and debilitating illnesses.

Don’t lose your faith. Not everyone is as insensitive as Kenny67 and Pete. Look at it this way. Feel sorry for them. They’re probably losers who still live with their parents.

  • D. Martin

So he needs to laugh and appreciate your insensitive jokes or he is shallow and pathetic? No. This is a disease that, for the most part, has taken a majority of his career. His family, including his actress wife, has made a lot of sacrifices to spend as much time together as possible. It’s not funny and your not funny — just mean.

Anyone notice that it’s always the guys who make insensitive, juvenile comments. – emphasis on juvenile.

I think this website (Gossip Cop) should have a code of conduct, if anybody makes fun or is nasty they should have the right to remove there comment and ban them from adding more. Other websites do this, why don’t you.

Letting people do this is bad as the Tabloids/Webloids and Twitter.

Good luck Mr.fox…you earned it. Cant wait to see you on Tv again

  • Kaitlyn

Thanks! You just restored my faith a lot. :) I really wish people would just keep those comments to themmseles. This guy has inspired millions, and helped bring a lot of awareness, understanding, and subsequently funds and research to a previously lesser known illness, and yet these people need to give him a hard time.

I agree. Not to mention, its one thing to make remarks on having your 6th traffic violtion in as many months, or ending a marriage is 16, 41 or 72 days (seen them all recently) cheating and affairs left and right, criminal activity, drug busts etc. And it is another entirely to make fun of a man who is suffering from a debilitating, eventually fatal illness, who is already a better human being, amd more successful than you can hope to be. Not to mention he is good standing in Hollywood, and has managed to stay out of trouble, unlike so many others,

Go, Michael. I’ll be tuning in for sure!

I’m excited for Michael J. Fox. Although, I will miss his reoccurring role on The Good Wife. With any hope, he can do both!!
