Michael Douglas And Catherine Zeta-Jones Did NOT Fight At U.S. Open, Despite Report
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones were not “at each other’s throats” at the U.S. Open, despite a ridiculous new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this story. We’re told by a rep that there’s “no truth to it.”
According to the National Enquirer, Douglas and Zeta-Jones “went to war in the stands” of the tennis tournament on September 12, creating a “humiliating scene” that is supposedly a sign that the couple is “headed for another split.” The tabloid quotes a so-called “source” as saying that before the couple took their seats, “You could already hear and see them sniping at each other.” The supposed “insider” adds, “It seemed like Catherine was goading him” in their viewing suite, where she was allegedly “laughing at him and Michael’s face turned angry.”
The tabloid can’t keep its fictitious story straight, however, as the “source” then claims, “They eventually went down to their first-row seats, but it seemed like an hour before they said anything to each other; Michael was looking one way, Catherine the other.” Hold up: The article initially alleges a “war” and “humiliating scene” took place in the stands of arena. But the phony source is quoted as saying that the couple was essentially giving each other the silent treatment during the match, and fought earlier in the suite. The only thing that’s “humiliating” here is the Enquirer’s inability to at least keep its lies consistent.
It’s also interesting that the Enquirer is the only outlet reporting about this public fight, and doing so nearly two weeks after it supposedly took place. It’s almost like it never happened! And yet the tabloid’s cover blares, “$300 Million Divorce Shocker” after “Public Screaming Match.”
But Douglas’ own Facebook page tells the TRUE story. Along with a photo of himself with his wife and 12-year-old daughter, Douglas wrote, “I had the best time at the U.S. Open with these two beauties… An amazing match and day!” The actor also posted a separate photo of himself and Zeta-Jones smiling and having a great time together at the event.
Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Douglas, and despite the National Enquirer’s attempt to create drama between the actor and his wife, we’re exclusively told there’s “no truth” to the allegations.
