Michael Clifford Loses Passport, 5 Seconds of Summer Guitarist Stuck In U.S. (VIDEO)
Michael Clifford is stranded in the United States. The 5 Seconds of Summer guitarist lost his passport and can’t leave the country. The unfortunate turn of events means he’ll miss the band’s performance Sunday at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball in London.
“So Mikey lost his passport :( That means he cant fly to the UK & has to stay in the US, so were playing #CapitalJBB as a three piece today,” announced the official 5SOS Twitter account. “We’re really sorry to everyone expecting to see the four of us on stage, we’re still gonna rock out so get ready to party! @CapitalOfficial.”
Captial FM tweeted, “Uh-oh… @Michael5SOS lost his passport and can’t fly in to see you at the #CapitalJBB.” The station also shared a video message from Clifford, seemingly filmed in a Chicago airport. In the brief clip, the Australian star calls himself “really stupid” for losing the “one thing that I needed to get to other countries.” “I’m so sorry I can’t be there,” says Clifford.
The 2014 Jingle Bell Ball takes place at the O2 arena, a two-night holiday spectacular that began Saturday. Taylor Swift headlines Sunday’s show. Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Sam Smith and Rixton will also hit the stage, along with 5SOS as a threesome. Check out Clifford’s video below, and tell us what you think of his mishap.
