5 Seconds Of Summer Guitarist Michael Clifford Falls Offstage At Radio 1 Teen Awards – WATCH VIDEO
5 Seconds Of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford, whose face was burned by pyrotechnics during a June performance at Wembley Arena in London, fell off the exact same stage on Sunday during the Radio 1 Teen Awards. After the fall, which injured his leg, Clifford tweeted, “WHY DO I ALWAYS HURT MYSELF”? Check out the video below of Clifford’s spill.
Clifford and the other guys from 5 Seconds Of Summer were among the performers at the Radio 1 Teen Awards, which honor outstanding young people, as well as stars. Among the other musical acts were Justin Bieber, Little Mix, Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato.
5 Seconds Of Summer sang a number of their hits, including, “She’s Kinda Hot,” “She Looks So Perfect” and “Hey Everybody,” but right at the beginning of the band’s performance, Clifford misjudged the length of the stage and fell right off the front of it. He got up and finished 5SOS’s set, but the fall was actually bad enough that he’ll need crutches. Clifford tweeted afterwards, “On crutches for the next few days. don’t look at me funny pls lolz. Thanks radio 1 for having us!” He added, “Wembley arena doesn’t like me much,” alluding to him burning his face there in June.
As Gossip Cop reported at the time, Clifford’s face and hair were singed when a fireworks explosion onstage struck the left side of his head. The remainder of that concert was canceled, and the guitarist was taken to a hospital, where he was bandaged up like half a mummy.
