Meredith Vieira just made it official – she announced she’ll be leaving the “Today Show” in June.
Replacing Vieira as Matt Lauer‘s co-host will be Ann Curry. Natalie Morales will take Curry’s spot as the show’s news anchor.
In another move, White House correspondent and MSNBC anchor Savannah Guthrie will co-host the show’s third hour.
Vieira said she’ll have a new role at NBC News, though it remains unclear at this point what exactly that will be.
NBC News president Steve Capus offered, “While we will miss waking up with her each morning, we are working together on developing her next chapter at NBC News.”
Vieira joined the Lauer nearly five years ago in September 2006 when Katie Couric left to anchor the CBS Evening News.
Video of Vieira’s teary-eyed announcement is below.
