Melissa Rivers Announced As New Fashion Police Co-Host
Melissa Rivers has just been announced as the new co-host of “Fashion Police,” filling in the spot left vacant after her mother Joan Rivers passed away in September. Melissa will be joining co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, and will remain the show’s executive producer. The show is currently on hiatus, but will return in August.
Not only is Melissa joining “Fashion Police” on-air, but E! says the show will also have a couple of guest hosts every episode. A statement from E! noted, “With the added flavor of rotating panelists, the show will deliver fresh, different, and unpredictable fashion reviews with each new episode.”
The show had been in a bit of turmoil with both Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin quitting “Fashion Police” after Rancic had made a controversial remark about Zendaya’s dreadlocks at the Oscars probably smelling like “weed.”
Last month, during a sit-down interview with Hoda Kotb, Melissa explained how “Fashion Police” imploded. She said, “We were a family, cast and crew and staff… and when the matriarch dies, the sisters started fighting, and someone tried to marry in… not a great match.” She added, “I felt like I was Humpty Dumpty, and I felt like I was on my knees gluing it back together or at least trying to find the pieces.” But mostly, Melissa was upset with Griffin, who was the newest member of the “Fashion Police” family. She said, “My biggest complaint was the feeling that she kind of sh*t all over my mother’s legacy in her statement on leaving.”
