Melissa Rivers: Fashion Police “Fell Apart” After Joan Rivers Died (VIDEO)
Melissa Rivers said “Fashion Police” “fell apart” after her mother Joan Rivers’ death in an interview on Monday’s “Today” show. “The only way I can really get my head around it is the matriarch of the [show’s] family died,” explained Rivers. She added, “The family fell apart, and the sisters started fighting.” See the video below.
Using the same analogy, Rivers continued, “Everybody mourns and grieves differently. And then someone tried to marry into the family. And we know how that went. That’s the only way I can sort of explain what happened.” Rivers, of course, was referring to Kathy Griffin, who announced she was quitting the “Fashion Police” after just seven episodes.
At the time, Griffin said she didn’t want to “contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference.” Kelly Osbourne also quit the show after reported tension between herself and the show’s producers following the controversy in February when Giuliana Rancic said actress Zendaya’s dreadlocks looked like they smelled like “patchouli oil… or weed.”
Despite Rivers saying “Fashion Police” fell apart when her mother died, the show will group and return in September. Check out the video below of Rivers talking about how “Fashion Police” fell apart after her mother passed away, and tell us what you think.
