What I would like to say to Rex Reed cannot be written here..

Rex Reed is a 70-something yr old man that doesn’t like most movies. At least, he doesn’t like most commercially sussesful movies. Go read some of his other reviews.

But for him to personally attack MM is just sad and desperate. Why would the Observer even print that?

SO you agree that Melissa is, “tractor-sized” and “humongous,” and “a gimmick comedian who has devoted her short career to being obese and obnoxious with equal success.”? For starters yes she may be overweight, but she is not the type who is so obese that they are immobile. Now that is what I class as humongous. Melissa McCarthy has not had a short career she has been actively working for a long time and if it weren’t for her weight she would have been discovered a lot earlier. If you agree with anything this idiot has said, then you are no better then him. People don’t need to like her work, but there is no need for a personal attack on on her. Her weight shouldn’t have any affect on you or anyone else.

It’s one thing to review and be nasty about a movie but when you start throwing in name calling ect, you’ve made it personal and have shown just how ugly you truly are! Hopefully Melissa doesn’t take this personally. She is hilarious and deserves her success.

Those nasty comments by Reed is a form of Bullying, which is suppose to be a big No-No in any format! There are much nicer ways to critique then such terriblenpersonal attacks!

Her career isn’t even “short;” she started on Gilmore Girls in 1999 (?)/2000. She was hilarious on that, & absolutely nothing about her role had to do with her weight. She played that role for seven years. She has been hilarious in her other tv shows, SNL, & movies, & has demonstrated a diversity to her talent that many actresses today do not. Fuck this asshat.

The movie doesn’t look fantastic but those personal attacks are uncalled for. Personally, I’m glad to see women plus-sized women on the big screen. Her talent comes from her humor and not being a sex object. Also, irrelevant, but for the record: Someone needs to tell Jennifer Lawrence that this is what real plus-size looks like. Melissa doesn’t need to constantly talk about her weight, she doesn’t need to compare herself to others and she relies on her charm and humor.

Wow, seems to me that taking shots at a person’s weight in a movie review is very unprofessional. I’m a fan of Melissa’s. I think she’s very talented and adorable. Rex Reed comes off sounding like a very bitter old man who is definitely not a fan of heavy people. He needs to stick to reviewing the movie and the acting and leave the personal attacks alone.

This was obviously a desperate attempt by Rex Reed to try to get people’s attention since most stopped listening and caring about his opinions years ago. Bravo Reed you got attention and managed to make yourself look like an ass in the process.
