Melissa McCarthy “Lip Sync Battle” Video With Jimmy Fallon On “Tonight Show”
As Gossip Cop has reported, Fallon’s recurring segment features two rounds. He and his guest each pick their own songs for a total four performances. The winner is usually determined by the audience or a special celebrity judge.
Fallon kicked off the “Lip Sync Battle” with what he described is a 1971 song about “roller skating and falling in love.” It was a tune from recording artist Melanie called “Brand New Key,” and Fallon pretended to have difficulty roller skating while singing it. Next, McCarthy, who was on the late-night show to promote her new movie Boss, got all gangsta while fake-singing DMX’s “X Gon Give It To Ya.”
Fallon then mock sang Zayn’s “Pillowtalk” while getting sensual with a pillow on the stage’s floor. After that, McCarthy said, “I’m obviously going to end with a song from the Pocahontas soundtrack.” And so she lip-synced “Colors Of The Wind,” and as she sang about the wind and rain, McCarthy got pelted by water and fake leaves.
As Gossip Cop has previously covered, Fallon has done “Lip Sync Battle” challenges with a number of celebrities, including Tom Cruise, Lena Dunham, Kevin Hart, Will Ferrell, John Krasinski, Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton and Ellen DeGeneres. The game became so popular, it was spun off into its own series on Spike. And just hours before this new “Tonight Show” edition aired, a preview of Jason Derulo lip-syncing “Super Freak” for this week’s episode debuted.
