Melissa McCarthy hilariously accepted the Comedic Genius Award at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, which aired on Sunday. Check out the video below!

At this year’s ceremony, which actually taped on Saturday, McCarthy crowd-surfed her way to the stage to accept the special honor. She then tussled with last year’s winner and current co-host Kevin Hart, cracking that he was “The Rock’s assistant.” Together they accidently knocked McCarthy’s Golden Popcorn across the stage, leading her to wonder if Hart would get fired.

But on a serious note, McCarthy named some of the past and present female comediennes who have influenced her career, including Whoopi Goldberg, Bette Midler, Carol Burnett, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and the late Lucille Ball. “I may be the first woman to receive this award, but I am certainly, certainly not the first one to deserve it,” she humbly noted. “I think I am a walking human patchwork of all the remarkable funny women who I loved and studied over the years.”

The Boss star went on to thank “every single person who buys a ticket for my movie or watches my show.” She added, “You are absolutely the single reason I get to keep doing what I love so much.”

McCarthy’s honor was only announced a few days ago, with MTV saying on Wednesday that she was selected “for her bold and fearless comedic style that has captured audiences hearts.” Amazingly, she is the first woman to ever receive the three-year-old award. The past recipients are Hart (2015) and Will Ferrell (2014). Watch McCarthy’s full video below!
