Melania Trump Tweets “Power Of The First Lady” To Thank Emily Ratajkowski
Melania Trump tweeted “Power Of The First Lady” and “Power Of Every Woman” to thank Emily Ratajkowski for standing up her. See screengrab below.
On Monday, Ratajkowski wrote on Twitter, “Sat next to a journalist from the NYT last night who told me ‘Melania is a hooker.’ Whatever your politics it’s crucial to call this out for what it is: slut shaming. I don’t care about her nudes or sexual history and no one should.” She added, “Gender specific attacks are disgusting sexist bullsh*t.”
The model-actress did not name the New York Times journalist who allegedly made the remark, but did confirm the person was male. She later tweeted an excerpt from an article by a Teen Vogue writer who wrote a piece about the alleged sexism at play. Now Trump is also recognizing Ratajkowski’s comments.
The First Lady tweeted on Monday night, “Applause to all women around the world who speak up, stand up and support other women! @emrata #PowerOfEveryWoman #PowerOfTheFirstLady.” In response, however, many sent replies to Trump questioning why she didn’t “stand up” to “support” women who have accused her husband, President Donald Trump, of sexual assault and misogyny.
Ratajkowski was also questioned about this. When a Twitter user wrote to her, “Yet her husband calls WOMEN BIMBOS, FAT AND UGLY where is your disgust about that? Nevermind,” the Gone Girl star replied, “maybe you should take a look at my past tweets before jumping to conclusions…” Ratajkowski has not responded to Trump’s tweet, which is only the fifth she’s sent from the “@FLOTUS” Twitter account since the Inauguration last month.
