Earlier this year, Us Weekly published a cover story falsely claiming First Lady Melania Trump and her son, Barron Trump, “may never” move into the White House. Gossip Cop exclusively corrected the report at the time. Now, more than two months later, the magazine is flip-flopping and admitting President Donald Trump’s wife and son will soon be living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

As Gossip Cop reported, the tabloid said shortly after Trump’s inauguration in January that Melania might not be moving to Washington D.C., but instead may remain permanently in New York City with her 11-year-old son to avoid disrupting his schooling. At the time, Gossip Cop checked in with a Trump insider, who exclusively told us, “The report is false. The first lady will move to D.C. at the end of the school year.”

Despite never retracting its previously untrue story, Us Weekly is now saying Melania and Barron are set to move to the White House this summer, even quoting an official as saying, “That has always been the plan.” Of course, Gossip Cop already reported that this would be the arrangement all along.

As Gossip Cop noted at the time, the president and first lady simply agreed Barron should finish out the school year before relocating, which is the only reason she and the young boy didn’t move into the White House after Trump was sworn in. In fact, Us Weekly’s original cover story even blared a headline reading, “Melania & Donald Separate Lives,” but it was a very misleading report. Barron’s schooling may have forced them to be apart for the early days of the administration, but that is set to change, just as Gossip Cop rightly said. The tabloid, however, has done a complete about-face.
