Fidel Herrera Beltran, the governor of the Mexican Gulf coast state of Veracruz, claims Mel Gibson will be spending time in the Ignacio Allende prison there come next year.
OK, fine… Gibson, according to Governor Beltran, is making a film in the Veracruz prison, a section of which the government official says will be cleared out next month “because a grand production will be filmed there with our friend, the actor and producer Mel Gibson.”
And Gibson, who visited the prison in 2008, is indeed a friend of the area. Not only did the actor-director shoot his 2006 film “Apocalypto” in Veracruz, but he’s also donated $1 million to repair homes in the hurricane-prone region.
Still, despite the comments made by Beltran to the Associated Press, it’s not quite a done deal. Gibson’s rep tells Gossip Cop the filming is “not confirmed as of yet.”
