A major controversy is brewing over allegations that Mel Gibson threatened to harm a Hollywood figure and wanted “Jew blood” on his hands.

Early today, RadarOnline claimed the embattled actor-director’s estranged girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, told authorities that Gibson had told her he wanted to hurt a Hollywood player who had “publicly humiliated” him.

According to the report, Gibson specifically described plans to take the unidentified individual into the desert, where he’d be “stripped naked, knee capped and left in the heat.” He supposedly put his humiliator under surveillance.

“I want Jew blood on my hands,” Gibson purportedly told Grigorieva, alleges Radar.

But now TMZ‘s Harvey Levin claims he’s the purported target of Gibson’s wrath — but that the story is not true.

According to his site, Levin had been told by Grigorieva rep Steve Jaffe that Gibson had described a plot to kill Levin because TMZ had broken the story about his anti-Semitic rant in 2006.

TMZ says Jaffe mentioned the supposed plot to Levin after “complaining” that TMZ had posted a story that was unfavorable to Grigorieva.

The site disputes the validity of Jaffe’s claim that Gibson planned to have Levin kidnapped and murdered, noting that Grigorieva never mentioned it during heated mediation negotiations in May, even though she was using every other piece of evidence to damage Gibson’s reputation. TMZ also observes that the Sheriff’s Department never contacted Levin after Grigorieva supposedly informed them of Gibson’s plot.

Department spokesperson Steve Whitmore confirms that the threats were never discussed, saying, “We categorically deny that any such information was ever given to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.”

Obviously, this story is still developing. Gossip Cop will have more…
