Meghan Markle did NOT snub the “Today” show, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the story, which comes from the tabloids.

“Why Meghan Snubbed The ‘Today Show,'” announces a headline in the new edition of Life & Style. It’s said, “Before Meghan Markle began dating Prince Harry and became an instant household name, she occasionally appeared on ‘Today’ to promote her USA series ‘Suits.’ But this season she’ll be a no-show. Why?”

While the article purports to have the answer to that question, all it actually has is some fake news. “Meghan told producers she was pressured by the palace to not do any interviews,” a so-called “insider” claims. “She is being extremely cautious and wants to keep a low profile out of respect for the royal family.”

But, says the magazine, “‘Today’ producers are peeved about Meghan’s abrupt about-face, especially because in the past they’ve let Meghan promote her lifestyle blog The Tig on air. Now, with so much public interest in Meghan, producers banked on her generating ratings, even if she didn’t speak about Harry.”

Adds the alleged tipster, “No one expects Meghan to give a sit-down tell-all interview about Harry. But asking her a few questions about her love life, which she doesn’t even have to answer, doesn’t seem like that big of a deal.” Well, that’s something for Markle to judge, although Gossip Cop would argue that being asked questions on live TV and then not answering them would be pretty awkward.

We’ve also exclusively learned that Markle doesn’t intend on doing any sit-downs about her relationship with any outlet. But that’s not the reason she isn’t slated to be on the “Today” show. While we’re told the actress is happy with her past appearances on the morning program, she is not promoting “Suits” right now.

After all, the most recent season ended in September, and the next doesn’t begin until the end of January. With no current need to do press for the series, there’s no need to talk it up on “Today” at this time. A source close to the production exclusively tells Gossip Cop that they understand that, as celebs typically only appear to promote something. The allegation that Markle has suddenly “snubbed” them is simply “not true.”
