MC Hammer has announced that he’s developing a new search engine called WireDoo.
The rapper-entrepreneur presented his venture at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco on Wednesday.
Hammer says WireDoo, which will be based in “deep search” or “relationship search,” is not necessarily a direct competitor to Google, but focuses on a new method of relating search queries.
For example, a “car” search also produces insurance and mileage results, while “home” would bring up things like local shopping and schools.
“We’re looking to make the search experience a little better,” explains Hammer.
The site is not yet available to the public.
While Hammer is still mostly known as the parachute-panted force behind early 1990s hits like “U Can’t Touch This,” he’s had a number of other business enterprises over the years, including a recent foray into technology start-ups.
