“Maze Runner: The Death Cure” Release Date Pushed Back To 2018
The release date for Maze Runner: The Death Cure has been pushed back to 2018 in the wake of Dylan O’Brien’s on-set accident.
Now the movie, the final installment in the Maze Runner trilogy, will open on January 12, 2018, nearly a year after its original debut date. It was previously scheduled to hit theaters on February 17 2017. But with the significant production delay, the film won’t be ready to meet that date.
As Gossip Cop has reported, the Vancouver-based shoot was temporarily shut down in March after O’Brien was hit by a car while doing a stunt. But while it was expected to start back up again in early May, the decision was then made to postpone the production indefinitely as O’Brien needed more time to recover from what has been called “serious” injuries.
A new start date has not been announced. But O’Brien’s long-term prognosis seems to be okay, as the actor is already making plans for his post-Maze Runner career. Earlier this month it was reported the “Teen Wolf” star is in talks to join the film adaptation of American Assassin with Michael Keaton.
O’Brien has yet to speak publicly about his accident, and hasn’t been seen in quite some time. Gossip Cop will continue to have updates.
