Maya Rudolph Channels Beyonce For Commencement Speech At Tulane (VIDEO)
Maya Rudolph delivered a hilarious commencement speech to Tulane University graduates at the Superdome in New Orleans on Saturday. The “SNL” alum brought down the house with a hysterical performance of the Star-Banned Banner with her trademark Beyonce vocal gymnastics impression and prepared outgoing Tulane students with words of wisdom. “This is a great, great day for you,” Rudolph said. “Except for those of you leaving college with any student loan debt. I don’t know what to say to you except this: I hope you win the lottery.”
Earlier, Rudolph thanked the university for inviting her to speak to graduates, and made a candid admission to students. “Families and friends of graduates, mothers, fathers, brothers, brothers from other mothers, sisters, roommates, ‘roommates,’ grandmas and grandpas, meemaws and papaws, bubbies and nannas and boppas, nonni jijis and their special friend Herb, Aunt Ronnies, Uncle Garys and people who met on Tinder this morning, I thank you for having me here to join you on this special day in this incredible city. I stand here humbled, gracious and completely naked under this robe,” Rudolph quipped.
Later on in the speech, Rudolph parodied Oprah Winfrey‘s infamous car giveaway, saying, “Look under your seats because you are all leaving today with a college diploma… You get a diploma, and you get a diploma, and you get a diploma! We’re all getting diplomas!” Check out the video below of Maya Rudolph’s commencement speech at Tulane.
