Matthew Perry “Falling Off Wagon” Over Career?
Matthew Perry is NOT on the verge of “falling off the wagon” because he’s supposedly worried about his career, despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this claim. We’re told it’s “ridiculous.”
According to Star, Perry’s friends feel the sober actor is in a bad place emotionally, and fear he might relapse with drugs and alcohol. A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “Matthew is not happy. His career has just not gone the way he hoped it would, especially when compared to his ‘Friends’ co-stars.”
Actually, Perry is currently starring on the CBS sitcom “The Odd Couple,” which has been renewed for a second season, something the tabloid reluctantly admits. The actor is also gearing up to star in a new play called The End of Longing, which debuts in London next month.
However, the magazine claims Perry is worried his upcoming show might “bomb.” The tabloid quotes a supposed insider as saying, “Everything is riding on this play. He thinks that if it’s a success, it will turn everything around.” The outlet’s dubious source adds, “Any small thing could jeopardize his sobriety. To see him looking so bedraggled is worrisome.”
Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Perry, and we’re exclusively assured that the tabloid’s entire story is simply “ridiculous.” Both the actor’s career and sobriety are going strong, and this is simply a non-issue.
It isn’t particularly surprising, however, that Star would falsely report such a story. Gossip Cop recently corrected the tabloid for wrongly claiming Perry was hooking up with former co-star Courteney Cox following her split from Johnny McDaid. Much like that tall tale, the magazine’s latest allegation about him being close to “falling off the wagon” is similarly untrue.
