Matthew McConaughey Not Making Cameo In Magic Mike Sequel, Despite Reports
Matthew McConaughey is not going to make a cameo in the Magic Mike sequel Magic Mike XXL, despite a new published report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the claim, which has been picked up and spread widely.
The New York Post started the rumor, and not surprisingly a slew of other outlets repeated it without actually fact-checking. That’s so not alright, alright, alright. Gossip Cop, on the other hand, checked in with a mutual friend of ours and the Oscar-winning actor, and we’re told it’s “totally false.” McConaughey will not be in the sequel.
As you’ll recall, McConaughey played Dallas, a former stripper who owned the club where Mike (Channing Tatum) works. And while McConaughey is not in the next movie, his former co-stars Tatum, Matt Bomer, and Joe Manganiello have reprised their roles for the sequel, which has been shooting in Georgia and South Carolina. Magic Mike XXL is slated for a July 1, 2015 release.
McConaughey, meanwhile, received his Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Monday. On hand for the honor, among others, were his wife Camila Alves and their three kids Levi, Vida and Livingston, as well as his Interstellar co-stars Anne Hathway and Jessica Chastain, and the film’s director Christopher Nolan.
