Matt McAndrew made “Voice” history on part one of the season 7 finale on Monday. The artist was the first contestant to ever sing his own original song on the finale in the history of the NBC music competition. Check out the videos below!
The Team Adam contestant debuted his self-penned song “Wasted Love,” an incredible track and performance that earned him a standing ovation from the coaches. Adam Levine could not stop gushing, and specifically pointed out what McAndrew just accomplished. “This is the first time it’s ever happened, but Matt McAndrew just sang his own song, that was not only just his own song, but it was an amazing song. It was one of the best songs I ever heard in my life. I’m a fan of this guy, and he’s not even done winning yet.”
Levine further said, “I’m just so proud of you and on the verge of tears with you because I love you so much.” He and McAndrew teamed up later in the finale to perform a duet of “Lost Stars,” which Levine created for the movie Begin Again. The Final Four artist then closed the show with the classic, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” giving an unbelievable solo performance.
