Matt Lauer Inks New Long-Term Today Deal

He joked, “Truth be told, I was developing an idea for a new show, where viewers could tune in every morning and see someone they know lose a little more of his hair every single day right in front of their eyes… But then I thought, I could just stay here and do that.”

Matt Lauer has inked a deal to stay on the “Today” show for several more years, Gossip Cop can confirm.
“Matt Lauer will announce tomorrow that he has signed a new long-term contract with NBC News as co-anchor of the ‘Today’ show,” a spokesperson tells us.
The rep adds, “He will make the announcement on the ‘Today’ show.”

Speculation ran rampant over the last few months that Lauer would leave the leading morning show when his contract expired at the end of the year.
The journalist’s new contact was first reported by The New York Times.
