Matt Lauer celebrated his 20th anniversary as anchor of the “Today” show on Friday with the help of a few famous faces. Watch below!

Lauer made his debut alongside Katie Couric on January 6, 1997. This week, Couric (temporarily) returned to join him at the anchor desk in celebration of his 20-year milestone. While there were little acknowledgments of the anniversary the last few days, much of Friday’s installment featured segments in Lauer’s honor.

That included a pre-taped tribute from celebrities. It was led by none other than Elton John, who told the morning show host, “I just wanted to say congratulations to you on your 20th anniversary on ‘Today.'” Tom Hanks joked that Lauer “did a service” for men when he ditched his hair “without any regrets,” and Kevin Hart cracked, “What I think we need to notice in this particular situation is that you’re getting old.”

Additional well-wishes and quips came from Jon Hamm and Annett Bening, who actually called the NBC personality her “boyfriend.” The special episode also included some of Lauer’s co-hosts revealing their picks for his most memorable moments, and a surprise appearance by co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, who is in the midst of maternity leave.
