Matt Healy: I Am NOT Dating Taylor Swift, Rumors Are “Bloody Fake” (VIDEO)
Matt Healy confirms he and Taylor Swift exchanged numbers, but slams rumors of a full-fledged romance in a new interview with 2Day FM. Watch below.
As Gossip Cop reported, Swift was linked to Healy last November after she saw the rocker and his band The 1975 in concert, and wore one of the group’s shirts. The radio station, which was the first to speak to Healy about Swift at the time, captures his surprise now as he listens to the subsequent reports that claimed they were secretly dating for two months, and he remarks, “It’s all fake. It’s all bloody fake. It’s all a farce.”
“Yeah, we met each other, we exchanged numbers, but in the same way that a lot of people in this kind of world do,” explains Healy. “We spoke occasionally, and then she’s the biggest pop star in the world, I’m in Australia. There’s no, like, relationship or anything happening.” The English star adds, “It’s funny how people really, really buy into that.”
To make up for sparking the firestorm, deejay Angus O’Loughlin gives Healy a bottle of wine, and he quips, “That’s a fair apology.” Going back to the topic of Swift, Healy says, “So that didn’t really happen, as much as it would be amazing for me if it did. Unfortunately, it didn’t.” And, as Gossip Cop reported in December, Swift slammed the media for “accusing all my friends of dating me.”
Asked whether he finds the rumors “embarrassing,” the musician compares the off-base speculation to stories claiming he and Harry Styles had become close friends following a BBC radio prank last March. “There’s nobody I know less on the planet than Harry Styles,” he reveals. “There’s nobody I have laid eyes on less in my life than Harry Styles. But because we were doing this, we have music, hair or whatever, people start talking about us.” Check out the full video below, and tell us what you think.
